Education & hope for 165 needy children in India

Every year In India we celebrate Republic Day with pomp and show nationally in institutions like schools and universities. Our children also celebrated Republic Day in the month of January with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by a Sports Day event at their school.

Our children were excited to participate in various sports activities organised in their school such as march past, sack race, running, Relay race etc. The Chief Guest Ms. Poonam an International Athlete and Ekalavya Awardee, graced the occasion and distributed the prizes.

 Our bodies are our most priceless possession, it is important for all of us to stay and remain fit. We had our regular medical check-up which was conducted for all our children at New Home. We make sure our children are well cared for mentally and physically ensuring they have a happy upbringing.

 Our children had the opportunity to participate in the 1K run organised by J.P. Morgan. A run for a cause, called ‘GoodWorks’, organised for shelter homes. They enjoyed themselves and won the first and third place respectively in the under 12 to 15 years category.

 Our children are the best at academics. An investment in knowledge always pays the best. Our present batch of 10^th grade students had their graduation ceremony in their school recently. They are putting a lot of effort into their studies in preparation for their final exams which will be held in the month of April.

We had visitors, who came to spend time with our children at New Home. They taught the children to make different type of hats. It was a day well spent for all.

In the story of Reaching Hand, 2021-2022 was a chapter of myriad milestones as well as learnings. We believe in learning from challenges instead of allowing them to deter us from our purpose of existence - to “Build, Care, Serve”. Reaching Hand reveres the community at large as “the heart” of the society and every action put forth by the organization aims to benefit the community and its members, whether through the umbrella programmes like “Govt school adoption”, “Youth skill development and placement”, “Women empowerment”, “Foster Care Home” and “School for the underprivileged” focusing on the effective members of the community.

 Therefore, when 2021 presented the second spell of COVID-19, most of our focus was channelled into relief and rehabilitation support to the community. As we look back at the impact we’ve created together, the lives we’ve touched and the smiles we’ve received along the way, on behalf of Reaching Hand, I would like to sound out our gratitude to our stakeholders who have backed us to aim higher so that we serve our community better.

 The collective efforts of our stakeholders - our children, the youth, women, corporate partners, donors, government and our volunteers are truly appreciable. Ultimately, the board of governance - without which none of this would have materialized into being. At last, we would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our dedicated staff members who worked hard tirelessly  through various challenges.
