Greetings from Reaching Hand!

How a quarter flew by! How true the saying goes “Time and tide waits for no man!’

Academics: A successful exam season passed by and the results are in… our students are top notch! The boys and girls scored over 70% in their 10th and 12th Exams! Tomba, 12th commerce, completed his II PU Board Exams with a 73.3%.Sneha scored 83.5% and Kateni scored 90.3%! Both have joined St. Charles for their 1st PU.Finally, after the longest of the exam seasons, Dayanand and Sarasu completed their NIOS 10th Boards and could give out a sigh of relief with their results! Sarasu, scored 77.8% and Dayanand scored 81.4%! Both have joined 1st PU at HMR National PU College. We are so proud of our children’s accomplishments and are cheering them as they continue their studies this next academic

Sweet Summer: After a rigorous academic year, the children at New Home got to spend some well deserved time enjoying extracurricular activities and outings this summer months of April and May!

Our athletes got to literally kick-off the summer with a day at XLR8 sports arena. They competed in football and cricket tournaments, with a few extra games like tug-of-war. The teams were a blend of multi-age and multi-skill so it was guaranteed fun for everyone!

Our dancers, actors, and singers got to indulge in their talents for a showcase called “Talentime” led by our 3 summer interns from Kerala. The showcase focused on modern and traditional forms of art, along with informative speeches about the culture of different Indian states.

A Opportunity of a lifetime our children got a chance to go on a grand tour of the Kempagowda Airport , Bangalore with Indigo Airlines – including a VIP tour of the plane!

Talent + Hardwork= Success

Did you know our children have knack for art and crafts? Their talents always WOW us . In April we held an exhibition cum sale for the jewelry, wall hangings, flower vases, décor pieces, fancy pens, among other items made by them.

And 3 of our budding artists – Shashi, Renuka, and Kateni wooed the audience with their canvas paintings of nature. Not only did they get to display their art and crafts, but also got a lesson in sales and business as they were in charge of marketing, sales, promotions, and finance. It was a very successful venture for our children and we thank everyone who supported their efforts.

Singapore in Bangalore!

For the first time, New Home hosted a volunteer group from Singapore! 23 students from the College of Alice and Peter Tan (Singapore University) spent 5 full days on our campus in both physical service projects and activities with our kids. Some of our older children got to help the volunteers prep and paint the walls of our study halls, and also get artsy with the large wall murals in the school. In the evenings, the volunteers engaged all of our children in games and activities. It was such a joy for the children to interact and learn from youth from a different country and background – and even learn how to say a few words in Mandarin! These kinds of programs are so worthwhile for our children and we are very pleased with the results. We look forward to hosting a group like this again!

We are not letting the summer leave before we got to be part of the TCSW 10K Marathon! This was our 8th year participating in the run, and 20 of our children got to run , along with about 35 other supporters and volunteers

Lighthouse International Academy News!

Another academic year of Lighthouse International Academy has begun! New principal, new teachers, new classrooms, and even new student have joined us this year! We cannot wait to make it one of the best years yet!

We love visitors at New Home and are very happy to share our home with all who have offered us so much support over the years. Thank you!
