Our Girls at New Home are doing well and are blossoming into hopeful women. We are able to accomplish so much because of donors like you. Your kindness has helped us get this far and has shown to be effective in assisting our children in reaching their goals.
During this quarter our children did the following things:
Fun - Planting in the Kitchen Garden
Both junior and senior girls have been actively involved in planting seedlings in the backyard of their home. They enjoyed planting beans, carrots and okra. Soon they will have all of these yummy vegetables for their meals.
Counselling Sessions
The children have regular counselling sessions where it creates a space for them to vent out their feelings. Our girls are given individual attention and all their grievances are addressed. Every Saturdays they have group counselling sessions where we discuss topics such as balancing emotions, working in teams, working with friendship, empathy, etc.,
A session for siblings
A session was conducted for all our children who have siblings within the home. As the saying goes – “Siblings are not only bound by blood, but also by love.” The siblings were taught to love one another, why sibling bond is necessary and the importance of having a family. The children worked on worksheets such as family tree, know your sibling, colour your sister, etc
International Day of Drug Abuse & Drug trafficking
The children learned the ill effects drug abuse through an interactive session.
Visiting Day for parents
Most of our children have either one parent or atleast a grandparents. The children were happy to meet their parents and spend a day with their families on ‘Visiting Day’.
Friendship Day
On friendship day the children exchanged cards & friendship bands. They were happy to celebrate,with their roommates. The children were taught the importance of friendship and why it is essential to have good friends in life.
