Dear sponsor,
Greetings to all of you from our founder and from Reaching Hand. Hoping all is well with you and your family. Because of all your support, our children are doing well and a belated but not very late Happy Mothers Day to all our sponsors who are also moms.
Here are some highlights of our previous three months.
Acedemics
We had mentioned in the last letter that all the children at Reaching Hand were busy preparing for their exams. Here I am proud to say that most of our children have done exceptionally well in their academics. Our children have yet again made our sponsors like you and Reaching Hand proud of them yet again. This year few children are going to special classes at school as they are going to their 10th grade this academic year which is one of the most important milestone for students in India. Our oldest boy Chuimayo is perceiving his college along with specialized coaching classes.
New Joinees
In the month of April three new children have joined in to our home. All three with different characters. Its a lot of fun having new faces. Thanks to all of you for your continual support. We hope yo touch many more lives like this.
Summer vacation
Meanwhile all our children are enjoying their summer vacations. They had many volunteers and corporates visiting and engaging the children in different activities , outings, character building exercises and games.
Trip to Goshen Camp center Idukki
Children also got a chance to visit Idukki a tourist spot south of Kerala and stay at a Goshen Camp as part of their summer camp. Their they learned about teamwork and courage and were counselled on various issues that children's face and quality time was also spent with our wardens in building them up and dealing with their issues.
TCS Marathon
On May 17th we had the Tata Consultancy services Marathon at Bangalore and 25of our New Home children ran 5.7 Km for another project of Reaching Hand called the Girls Glory Project through which Reaching Hand along with corporates is building toilets for Girls in Government schools to stop the tabu around menstruation and stop school dropouts.
Home for 500
Its our dream as I mentioned in our previous letter to build a permanent home. We still want lot of funds to start. But we are hoping to start the foundation by August this year. Thank you to all of you for your continual support . Do visit our website for more details on this.
Ruth one of the girls is growing up to be a good composer and singer. Hoping to send you all the songs written by her in the coming letter. And Believe it or not, our girls organised a mothers day party for all the mothers who belong to Reaching Hand family and prepared a sumptuous dinner for them. It was yummy indeed. Maybe you all should visit us and taste it too.You are always invited.
