Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it. ~Harold Hulbert
Dear esteemed supporter of Reaching Hand,
With much gratitude we are happy to update you on the happenings at our New Home- a care and protection centre for destitute children over the past three months.
The New Home Children are back to School and are almost finishing their first semester for this acedemic year. This year we are focusing extra on their acedemics as it was so funny that all the Children have got caught up with football fever and for a season it was only football ringing in their ears 24/7, esp. the boys. So, we had to work extra-hard on teaching them to balance their hobbies and studies at the same time, so that they don't neglect either of it.
Health Check up and Tanu's surgery
All the Children were given a routine health Check up and the minor health issues are being addressed. But the GOOD news is we are finally looking into doing the knee replacement surgery for one of our boy named Tanu(Photo attached) who had lost his one leg due to an accident at his home and had also lost his parents to this incident. But the problem is Tanu will have to be on bed rest for 6 months after his surgery. But since it's for his future good, we are cheering him up and going ahead and also looking for a nurse who can watch over him during the same. We are sure he'll recoup soon as he is a very strong hearted and cheerful boy.
Summer Volunteers visit and "Cupcake for a cause"
Reaching Hand had the privilege of having 12 amazing summer volunteers this year for the first time and all of them have contributed a lot to Reaching Hand in all of it's projects. They also got to spend considerable time with children and educate them about their respective countries and gave them special sweets and also played with the children. The group photo attached below.
The volunteers headed by Mai Soua Chang from Wisconsin, United States made and sold amazing cupcakes to the corporates and raised Rs. 1,00,000 for Reaching Hands project Home for 500 Phase II- a home for 100 destitute children. This event was very commendable. Thanks to all the volunteers.(Photos attached below)
Home for 500 Phase II-a permanent home for 100 destitute children
The owner of the Girls Home has given us a deadline of a year to vacate the rented premise we are in. So, we have decided to go ahead with building a Home for the current 100 children at the Reaching Hand New Home plot and gradually build further to accomodate more children when we receive enough funds.
We are glad to anounce the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Reaching Hand on 26th Aug, 2015 at the project site of Home for 500 at Manchapana, Hosahalli, Bangalore, India. Reaching Hand takes privilege to invite all our dear sponsors, friends and well wishers to be a part of the event. For more details, do visit our website. Attached below the plot division of Reaching hand.
We wish that all our well wishers attend the event. Thank you again for your constant support and hoping you will continue to do so and we also request support for our Home for 500 project with your presence or in donation as we will join with you in fulfilling the dream of these children in having a home of their own.
Warm Regards and wishing you a blessed life.
