Education & hope for 165 needy children in India

It’s been an amazing few months for us at Reaching Hand. We would like to extend our gratitude to you for helping us in educating these wonderful children at our New Home. Education is the biggest gift we can give to every child. Before we go on further, we would like to tell you that, 5 of our children have cleared their 10th Grade Board exam in ICSC Syllabus with distinction. These children were brought to us when they were 5-8 years old and to see them grow up so soon and also exceling in their academics so much is the biggest news for us and they indeed made you and Reaching Hand proud.

Exam Time

In the month of February, our children were busy preparing for their academics and the 10^th and 12^th Graders had their graduation ceremony in their Schools. Monisha, Chuimayo, Elisha, Thotsem, Arun and Surya were part of the Graduation. (Photo attached below). In the month of March all our children at the home wrote their exams. So it was completely study time.

Tanu’s surgery

Tanu, who had succumbed burns in the arms of his mother after being pushed by his father on to a live electric wire was walking with bent leg. So he underwent a surgery to straighten his legs immediately after exam. He is recovering well and is under bed rest. Heat is taking a toll on the wounds. But he is doing better now. Vacation Time

Its vacation time and our kids are having a whale of a time doing all the things they could not do during the academic year. Good movies are screened for them to watch. Art and Craft classes are conducted by volunteers which they thoroughly enjoy. Dance classes and debate sessions on different topics are held just to take away the stage fear and also cause them to think on the negative and positive side of every topic. (Photo Attached)

Results

By the Grace of God Elisha got 85%, Monisha and Thotsem got 84%, Surya got 71% while Arun got 74%. Monisha scored over 90% in 3 subjects and Thotsem and Elisha got 95 in Commercial studies. Elisha got a whopping 95 in Kannada and Monisha and Thotsem who used to struggle with Kannada got 90 and 80 respectively. We are so happy for them. They will continue with their PUC or Junior College studies now. As for Arun and Surya who happily fooled around we were hoping they would pass.

They will all be continuing with their studies in the 11th Std which is called Junior College. We are so happy for them. To think that these kids who were nowhere with no one to care have crossed a landmark in their lives is noteworthy. All Glory to Him alone.

Academic Awards

Prem got all-rounder award, Chitra and Umesh were awarded as the star pupils of the School, Charan and Thomba also got awards as subject toppers. (Photo Attached)

Land Construction

We are 50% done with the construction of the first phase. In the first phase, we are building home for 50 Girls,50 Boys, a cafeteria with a playground. We need your continuous support to complete this project. (Photo Attached)

Way Forward

We would like to keep providing the best education to our children. We have been assessing the children continuously and trying to do our best as each one of them grows into beautiful and unique individuals. And it is our biggest dream to complete the construction of the permanent home, so that we can accomodate more children as well as provide more space for the growth of the Children.

We believe that you are an integral part of our journey to give these little one’s a wonderful home with loads of love and care. We would like to thank you from the bottom of hearts for being there and for contributing to this cause. We believe it’s a lifetime investment with eternal rewards.
