Greetings from Reaching Hand!
Past the mid of yet another year we proudly present our achievements.
CHUIMAYO – “Our Pride in Disguise”
Chuimayo is another young boy who lived with his parents and siblings in the Indian north eastern state of Manipur. Aspirations and dreams are not within the reach of many in that state. Chimayo’s uncle lived in Bangalore and encouraged his parents to let this young 7 year old to relocate to Bangalore in hopes of better education and facilities.
Chimayo joined as part of the New Home family in 2006 and started his schooling in one of the best schools in the locality. Being an intelligent boy, he could grasp the toughest of syllabus with ease.
His love for reading helped him receive many prizes for essay writing competitions in the school. He made best use of the school and New Home library facilities. Though he appears timid, he is a football champion and his school holds the credit of their formidable team to him.
It is not a surprise that this hard worker passed his High School in flying colours and was enrolled easily in the science stream for his higher education. With little coaching, he cracked the entrance exam and joined a prestigious Institute of Technology in Mangalore. He has completed his first year in Automobile Engineer and is spending his semester break with the New Home family. He aspires to excel in his field and make a change where ever he is.
He owes his “Journey to Success” to the New Home family who has been his constant support and motivation. Looking back, he says” New Home has taught me to love unconditionally, be considerate to others and to believe in yourself”.
“When destiny finds you, nothing can stop you”- Way to go Chuimayo!
The Journey continues...
Our New Campus (at M. Hosahalli, Bangalore North Taluk) is bustling with 55 children. Our children are thrilled to have a huge football ground, individual cupboard and cot and a huge living space.
Our gardening inclined kids have embraced “Going Organic”, with few involved in composting and recycling as part of their extra-curricular activities. The latest addition to our family is our “Jumbo Bus” to transport our children to school.
Umesh and Tomba exceled in their tenth exams with 93 and 89% respectively and joined CMR College for higher education in the commerce stream. Mahalaxmi and Raju scored 81 and 79% respectively in NIOS tenth exams and have joined DPS Bagalur in the commerce stream.
Top-Notch Education, Right in Our New Home
This year we have an exciting and challenging initiative – “Knoble Academy” right in our New Home! We began this initiative early this June, alongside the ICSE and NIOS calendar, and it has been a great start. Through “Our school (Knoble Academy)” within the campus (for new comers) we could understand first-hand about each child’s strength and weakness and tailor the lessons to meet each child’s need. Apart from subjects our children are given classes in music, arts, crafts, physical education and dance.
A big “Shout Out” to each of our supporters for your selfless contribution and support through the years. “Our School” initiative is inching to include school uniforms, field trips, and building of classrooms to foster the academic growth. We aspire to give our children nothing but the best in education.
Do remember to visit us when you are in Bangalore. We love you to spend some time with us.
We are also delighted o inform you that Reaching Hand has been awarded by Guidestar India as one of the best Transparency & Public Accountability NGO`s across India. It is a great honor and proud moment for all of us. Attached is the certificate of recognition.
