Dear Friend
As someone who cares deeply about animals, and has shown compassion towards the poor communities in which they are often abandoned - I want to extend a huge thank you for your kindness - and share an update on what your support has made possible.
As you know, the situation surrounding pet abandonment can be complex, but sadly is all too common - especially in some of the poorest regions of Romania.
Some owners simply can’t afford to buy food for their beloved pets, whilst others can’t cover the vet bills - and their only option becomes to abandon their pets or watch them slowly deteriorate. This often affects the senior community, as they typically live on an extremely low state pension. But heartbreakingly, it’s the seniors who depend on the companionship and love of their pets the most. Their beloved pets may be the ones who help them through isolation and loneliness. Being forced to abandon them or watch them suffer is something no owner should have to do.
Thanks to the support of wonderful people like you, owners and their pets are being helped to stay together through our Friends Forever initiative. You are keeping innocent pets safe at home with their owners, whilst ensuring owners never have to make this impossible choice.
I have a positive story to share with you today, about Roxi the sweet 11 year old dog who was helped when she needed it the most. Roxi had a life threatening mammary tumour, but her owner simply couldn’t afford to pay for the veterinary treatment due to her low income. This is where ROLDA stepped in to fund Roxi’s treatment. It’s truly thanks to the generosity of people like you, that we could help.
Thankfully Roxi was treated in time. She underwent an operation to remove the tumour, and today is doing well and enjoying life with her owner. On behalf of Roxi, her owner, and other owners and their companions who have been helped out of the same circumstances - thank you. You are allowing them to continue their bond of friendship for years to come.
