Dear Kind Donors,
At the end of May our little Students performed the Traditional Khèm Dance for the Official SEA Games Ceremony. The SEA Games are the Southeast Asian Olympics and the 32nd Games were hosted by Cambodia for the first time since their founding.
Together with our little Students (agd from 5 to ten) were our older Students and Teachers who accompanied them with Traditional Khmer Music.
Some of our Children as you all know, have lost their parents, or have parents in prison, or have been abandoned. To Dance in this way at such a high level after much practice is immensely rewarding and fulfilling. After so much suffering and often having been considered the lowest of the low in society and tragically cast aside, they are now Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Cambodia's Traditional Cultural Heritage.
Beyond this and at the level unseen by the public, is the constant love and kindness, education and support, overcoming of difficulties and encouragement given by my dear Cambodian colleagues to our Children, twenty-four hours a day.
On July 12th we will be participating in a special GlobalGiving Bonus Day. GlobalGiving will be giving a percentage of matching funds for every Donation. However, July 12th is different from our GivingTuesday appeal, in that the higher the donation, the higher the matching funds GlobalGiving will give, in order to encourage those donors who are able to give a bit more. The appeal starts at 09:00 Washington DC Time and donors are asked to donate near the starting Time, because matching funds may run out quite quickly.
For those of our lovely donors who can't manage a large sum and would prefer to donate on another day, we are grateful for all the good you have given us and thank you.
