A summer of fun and learning!

Summer day camps foster a love of nature

Hello Jerusalem Biblical Zoo supporters!

This summer the milder weather (usually summer in Jerusalem is wickedly hot!) encouraged people from all of Israel's diverse communities to participate in all of the special educational programming available at the Zoo. Even general visitors take some educational lessons away with them because our signage, presentations and guides provide information in three languages – Hebrew, English and Arabic. Visitors learn about our fascinating animals and the habitats they come from as well as about the important work being done towards conserving our precious natural environments. Visitors also learn more about how they can be kinder to the environment and live greener lives every day.

Special education events over the summer months have included:

Summer day camps – this year these were very well attended indeed and our education team reports on very positive work done with these youngsters in terms of raising awareness of wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.
Special guided tours and feedings to deepen visitor understanding of species and habitats.
"Meet the Keeper" opportunities for regular visitors - to provide a platform where visitors can ask questions and learn more about the Zoo's animal care and wildlife conservation work.
Sunset and evening tours, as well as sleepovers. These activities are so much more than a recreational visit – our guides make use of every opportunity to engage visitors and to educate them. We find that these are among the most successful tools at our disposal as we have had cross-generational attendance.
Our regular education programming has resumed as of September 1^st and we welcome school field trips, after school program participants, gifted students and more.
We are currently recruiting participants for the 2016/2017 Zoo Bagrut high school scientific research program in which gifted students prepare scientific research papers graded by the Ministry of Education.
