Rosaline is nine years old. She lives with her mother and two siblings in one of the poorest slum areas in Haiti, in a home with barely enough room for the four of them. Her mother supports the family alone, selling fruit and vegetables on the street from sunrise until the light runs out.
For the past four years, thanks to donors like you, Rosaline has gone to school. She can read now. She has friends. She has a favorite subject. She has something her mother never had at her age: a chance.
Last month, classrooms across Haiti opened their doors for a new school year. Rosaline wanted to be there. But her mother's earnings—hard-won, coin by coin, fruit by fruit—aren't enough to cover tuition. So for the past month Roslaine has had to stay home while her classmates go on without her.
She is one of many. For thousands of children we serve in Haiti, tuition is the one obstacle standing between them and a classroom seat this semester.
We found sponsors for 4 of the 8 children who were are on most critical list. Four went to school last month. Four stayed home.
Here is a thank you video from one of the four who were sponsored: WATCH MALAICA's VIDEO
Will you help Rosaline—and children like her—walk through the school gate next week?
