Dear supporters and friends,
The staff at our preschools has been busy making things better and brighter for the little scholars that study there.
Two important events took place since the last time we wrote to you about the progress the preschools have made with your donations. The events are illustrated by the captioned pictures attached to this report. HID (Humanity in Distress, a local nonprofit in Bangladesh) is OBAT’s local partner through which it runs its preschool programs in Bangladesh. The reports received from HID are very encouraging as the number of kids attending these schools has gone up significantly (up to 40% of the preschool aged children from one camp are now attending school). The attendance rates have also increased. On any given day, about 96% of the students come to school.
Among other news, we submitted a photo from our preschool projects for the photo contest on Global Giving, held from August 1st-August 15th. We were thrilled that it made it to the final 75 contestants and it’s ranking stayed in the top 20% of submissions throughout the contest. We didn't make it to number 1 but our final ranking was 17 out of the 75 entries. Thanks to all those who voted for our photo.
We have raised $4,850 so far for this project, with $8,900 to go. We thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes,
OBAT Helpers' team.
