The children in Panciu need you!

By Federica Gruppioni | Project Leader

Dear reader/donor

I am reaching out to you because I would like to thank you for all the times you have contributed to the Pinocchio Center.

In other reports, we have told you about the daily activities in the center especially through our volunteers' eyes. Thanks to you they have been near the children and helped them doing their homework, coloring or making them keep a pencil in their hands. They have run and played with them in the courtyard or they may have played with snowballs during the long winter seasons in Panciu. They have walked through the city, been to the local market on Saturday morning and for sure they have spoken with the children and their parents.

Today, the center carries on the activities in favor of the children in Panciu, thanks to the generous commitment of several volunteers and the precious work of the local staff. Every day we offer the children a hot meal, help with homework, some fun time with the afternoon activities, supporting both the children and their families, especially the ones who risk exclusion the most.

Thanks to our work throughout all these years, the Centre is now accredited as a social services provider. It is a great achievement which however involves a series of legal obligations. As a matter of fact, as you can easily imagine, all of this requires a larger economical effort adding up to the association’s daily activities.

We are now in a very difficult situation.

As you probably already know, not much long ago the “mic dejun”, breakfast, was one of the activities we offered.  Every morning we went near the school, not only to give the children some food to start the day well, but also to make them feel and see that we are by their side.

Unfortunately today this activity is suspended, because we miss the economic support to keep on going on with it. The canteen service is at risk, too. We fear we might have to stop the activities or even worse, close the center.

The staff is looking for the support from the local institutions and citizens. There have been some donations but not all promises were kept.

We truly believe in the value of the services offered to the children of the Pinocchio Centre and we hope you do the same. A beautiful, clean and cozy place. A place the children can call home, where they can learn and play together.

We know how important it is to keep offering  them a hot and nutritious meal since we also know their families’ difficult conditions.

We love to see their happy faces when they come to the center, when they  play and when they eat something they really like.

I am writing to you to ask for your help. HELP US KEEPING THE CANTEEN OH THE CENTRE OPEN.

We sincerely thank you for what you can give!

If you cannot donate, please share the project's page with your friends, colleagues, and relatives and on your social media.

Thank you!

Federica
