Education for 50 disadvantaged Romanian children

Aisha, international volunteer with IBO who is carrying out her Italia Vonteering Service in Panciu, is discovering that among the children attending the Pinocchio Center there are real talents!

“The children and young people of the center are demonstrating not only good at singing and have an excellent ear for music, but they are proving to be able to stand on stage even in front of a large audience.

Last November began an internal auditions and selections for the roles of a small theatrical performance for the Christmas show. The selection process immediately aroused great enthusiasm and expectations, as well as an healthy competition for the main roles.

The first show to take shape was “D-l Goe” by Ion L. Caragiale, an irreverent comedy with exasperated characters, in which the girls of Pinocchio's fell impeccably.

The actions that took place in a fictitious passenger carriage en route to Bucharest, the absurdity of the dialogues and the great expressiveness with which they were interpreted entertained young and old.

The scenes were rehearsed and rehearsed at the Center Pinocchio every day on cold December afternoons, to then be presented in front of the entire city of Panciu.

The Christmas show involved a larger number of participants. The children show the history of the tradition through  dances, verses and melodies written hundreds of years ago. The event took place at the municipal House of Culture. Our little actors dressed with traditional clothes grabbed the microphones and gave joy and pride to those who watched them.

The same performances were repeated twice last December. Once for the parents: an afternoon of music, songs, sweets and exchanges of good wishes was organized at the Centre Pinocchio. The show was also presented in Focsani, in an event organized together with the Red Cross for Ukrainian families who fled the war and took refuge in Vrancea. On that occasion the children sang for the children and for the Ukrainian families, creating an atmosphere of warmth and affection despite the linguistic distance.

 A couple of months later, the children of Pinocchio return to act and sing in front of a public, this time on the occasion of Women's Day. It was, in fact, organized a small event at the Center for the mothers of the children, and why not, for all the mother. The atmosphere was tinged with pink, with the purple of the hyacinths that are usually given as gifts thanks and words of affection in rhyme."

The children may have some difficulties with geography, mathematics, science and Romanian language at school ....but they are really been able to make wonderful gifts through music, singing and acting. for the people around them, and they are real talents of of kindness!
