The song of education

With 2023 right around the corner, we want to share with you some of the outstanding stories of 2022 that are possible thanks to your continued support.

Juan, a third-grade student at Braulio Camporredondo School in Amazonas, had difficulty concentrating during English class. He used to get distracted by his classmates or play alone in his folder. For this reason, Deysi looked for an alternative teaching method related to music and aims to motivate and improve her students' learning.

She decided to organize a talent festival and take that opportunity to develop the artistic side of the students while learning English. She gathered them into groups of 5 and assigned a song to each group. Juan and his team are challenged to sing the song "Stand by me" by American artist Ben E. King. Teacher Deysi took her students to the schoolyard to practice the songs and over time, they lost their fear and embarrassment thanks to their teacher's confidence.

After several days of practice, the students sought to improve their singing and asked themselves several questions: Where do we lower or raise the volume of our voices? How do we pronounce this sentence correctly? How is the rhythm of the chorus? and the most significant for them, what does this song want to tell us? These questions were answered in grammar and pronunciation classes, where the teacher could observe her students' genuine interest. Their motivation grew so much that even the singing practice was extended to their homes.

During the festival, the students demonstrated their skills and talent by showing off their voices and good interpretations, earning applause from everyone. In the end, teacher Deysi had a smile of joy all over her face, as she was happy that her students were motivated enough to excel in music and during their classes.

Thank you for making stories like this possible. We hope to continue counting on your support next year to bring quality education to more children in the country. Let's keep working together!
