As we continue supporting girls and adolescents in the Amazon, we want to share a special moment that reflects the power of their voices when they are given space to express themselves.
During the anniversary of the UGEL Ibir Imaza, students from eight schools celebrated an important milestone: the launch of their book, “Creciendo Juntas” (“Growing Together”), a collection of stories created from their own experiences, reflections, and voices.
That day, the space became more than a ceremony. At the entrance of the UGEL, the students’ work was displayed like a gallery—drawings, writings, and photographs capturing the journey they shared while bringing this project to life. With excitement and pride, they walked through the exhibition, taking pictures and remembering each step of the process.
One of the most meaningful moments came when they held their book in their hands for the first time. It was more than a book—it was their effort, their creativity, and their voices made visible.
During the event, some students stepped forward to share their stories aloud. One read in Spanish, while another shared her story in Awajún, honoring the cultural richness of their communities and the importance of being heard in their own languages.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and books, in a space filled with joy, pride, and celebration.
Beyond the event itself, this experience represents something deeper: girls recognizing themselves as authors, creators, and leaders of their own stories.
Thanks to your continued support, more girls can access safe spaces to express themselves, strengthen their identity, and raise their voices. Your generosity makes stories like this possible.
