Drama on Liberation War:
On 23rd October 2014 in JAAGO foundation, the students of Rayer Bazar School re-enacted the cultural, economic and political suffering of the people of Bangladesh which led to its liberation war in 1971. As part of the curriculum the students of standard 7 gave a presentation on liberation war of Bangladesh; prepared within 20 minutes in their classes. The students staged two dramas portraying two different issues. The issues were “Culture and Politics”, “Economy and Defence”. Each participant gave animated performances using posters, costumes and dialogues. One winner was announced, although all the performances griped the audience’s attention strongly.
Happiness is Getting New Books:
We don’t remember much of what we read in our school books back in our childhood but we do remember how we all looked forward to holding and smelling the fresh new books right? The colourful new books filled our young mind with new anticipation and a sense of stepping up on a new threshold of life. But what is a common memory for all of us is a rare reality for the underprivileged children for whom basic education comes with a struggle. But the children of JAAGO Foundation in all its branches got their share of moments of getting new books and copies when Shanta properties Ltd. and all other people gave Zakat during the “Ramadan Drive” and enabled us to buy new books and copies for the students for the upcoming academic session of our school. May the coming of new books bring a brand new learning experience for our kids!
Life Changing Initiative through IT:
Technology improves education to a great extent and it has now become a need for revolutionizing education for the better. To integrate technology across the curriculum to enhance the learning process JAAGO Banani School opened a brand new It lab for its student with the support of A-Tex International Ltd. Now students of Banani branch can learn while they play in the lab. The classroom study is no more restricted to the pages of their school books now that they have computer access where they will learn in three dimensional way-listening, watching and playing. The opening of this new IT lab at JAAGO Banani School marks the addition of another stepping stone to the bridge that helps us to provide our children with the latest and most advanced way to enlighten them. Now technology has become another easy tool for these underprivileged children to explore the world of knowledge and learn in every step.
Dancing with Next Level:
The American artists of ‘Next Level’ visited JAAGO recently and grooved up the children by performing some of their hip hop numbers and even teaching some dance steps .This may not sound very special to us but it was respite for these children who are hard pressed to struggle for their basic rights and who hardly get any opportunity to see the brighter side of life. “Next Level” is an initiative of U.S. Department of State and the University of North Carolina’s Department of music that promotes international cultural exchange and conflict resolution through hip-hop music and dance.
The artists that paid a visit to our children inspired our children towards the world of music and opened up opportunities that are so hard to come by. One of the artists was so mesmerized by the children’s enthusiasm towards dancing, that she decided to conduct dancing classes online through Skype especially for the children of JAAGO Foundation.
