Send a Child in India to School for a Year

Ravina, aged 9, lives in Sada, a village in rural Rajasthan. Her father is an alcoholic with mental health issues. She also has a younger brother. Ravina lost her mother 4 years ago and she and her younger brother started living with their maternal grandparents. She stopped her studies and started assisting her grandmother in household chores and grazing livestock in the field all day.

A Shiksha Kendra (bridge school run by Seva Mandir) teacher, Laxman, noticed Ravina and her brother during one of his community visits. Upon learning about Ravina's case, he insisted that her grandmother enroll Ravina in Seva Mandir’s Shiksha Kendra. After multiple appeals by Laxman, Ravina was finally enrolled in a Shiksha Kendra.

Ravina, a shy kid, and took some time to adjust. Laxman gave her special attention and with his help, Ravina slowly became an active student of Shiksha Kendra. Now she is able to identify alphabets and do basic counting operations in Mathematics. She is regularly attending classes at Shiksha Kendra. She also enjoys the sport of skipping, along with her studies. Her younger brother is also enrolled in the same bridge school.

Laxman’s efforts are commendable as it has improved the future prospects of both the children. He happily says-

"I am glad that I was able to enroll Ravina in our Shiksha Kendra and hope she continues her education."

This is just one example of the effort and commitment of our teachers and staff. They want to see all children enrolled and attending schools. A big thank you also goes to you, our supporters. With your help, we have been successfully running this program.

We are excited to share with you that we are participating in GlobalGiving’s Little by Little Campaign, which will run from 04^th to 08^th April 2022. It is a five-day crowdfunding campaign. All eligible donations of up to $50 will be matched at 50% during the campaign.
