Amidst the Aravalli mountain ranges some 25 Kilometers from Udaipur is a little hamlet called Badanga. Here, Seva Mandir runs a Siksha Kendra (Non Formal Education Center) for the children to ease the access of education in the remote hilly terrain. Pushpa, a lady in her late twenties run the center.
Pushpa’s NFE is not just about fun and learning but also about values and of humanity. It so happened that on the dawn on 25th July, two of her students was bit by venomous snake at their residence, while both were asleep. Dharma, the elder of the two died instantaneously, Khyali was in a state of comma for nine days followed by pneumonia. His treatment in the nearby private hospital was a costly affair.
Seeing the financial difficulties that the family was facing, the NFE students collected whatever little they had from their piggy bank and handed a total of Rs. 400 to Pushpa.
Pushpa further contributed Rs. 500 from here salary for Khyali’s treatment. Each day, during the morning assembly, the children pray for Khyali’s health, and are looking forward for a day when he would join them again.
We at the Non Formal Education Centers do not believe that education is all about studying but also inculcating values that would make the world a better place. Seva Mandir is running 170 centers across 600 neglected villages providing access to education to around 6000 children every year.
It takes Time to imbibe those values and I am proud to say that it has been possible with your support that we are able to inculcate values besides educating through our centers
