“Hello Everyone
My name is Michael.
Many years ago, when I was perhaps 8 or 9 years of age I was in trouble at home.
My family was very poor and well times were very tough. My mother loved me very much but one of my close relative was doing bad things to me.
Then one day my mother took me to People First and I was placed in residential school. I loved it right away. We got to play cricket our teachers were kind and patient, I had lots of friends and we even went on trips. The food (I got to eat three times a day) was very good. I never saw that relative again.
But I want to say that for me it was not just that education might be useful or desirable. For me and other students both girls and boys it was everything to us, everything.
I enjoyed study but I worked hard because I knew my whole life depended on it. I got good marks at the school leaving examination and this enabled me to study software programming at a good college in Bangalore. I graduated with honours and I am now working as an engineer and I have a small flat which I share with my lovely wife, Pritya.
If I had not been helped by People First and people like you who donate to make these scholarships possible my life was pretty much doomed to abject poverty and ignorance.
I thank you for thinking of us and helping young people like me ,
God Bless You”,
Michael
