1. BUDGET
We have raised money through GlobalGiving through one donor who is sponsoring one of our children long-term to go to school and sends us monthly a donation, this is approximately 264,04 usd
In addition we had one sponsor who set up a fundraiser for us and raised money for us. We received the embursement from GlobalGiving in December 2021 of 647,73 USD. This money we have used on the weekly meals for our children.
2. HOW WE SPEND THE MONEY
Schools opened again in Uganda. The payment of one sponsor for school education of a specific child will go to paying schoolfees, uniforms and scholastic.
Additionally, we have received a donation for our weekly meals. As the number of children at our project grown, and the price of food is rising. So does our need for extra donation for nutrition. We are very happy that we have received this budget. Our weekly meals are namely an extremely important point for us.
One simple basic meal is about 0.50 cents, so in order to feed all 460 children once a week we need about 995 euro a month (460*0.5*52)/12! 100% of your donation goes to the meals, as we have a few big sponsors who committed to pay any overhead costs if applicable.
The meals are not only important, as they give the children an extra source of vitamins, minerals and additional important nutrition, but the weekly meals also have a big social function. As all the children come together as a group, they are bonding and we can see how they are all doing. We buy all our food locally and from different small stores! Hence making sure that also local small businesses benefit from the donation. In order to budget and plan for, it is important that we have recurring sponsors, so that we don't need to fundraise for meals every single month or would have weeks, where we have not enough for all kids.
