TWO THOUSAND AND TWENTY-THREE VICTORIES: MAYBE LES

By Liseth Anaya | Project Psychologist

In 2023, improvements were achieved in the learning of boys and girls included in regular schools belonging to the inclusive education area of Wasi Esperanza, all thanks to the coordinated work between staff from different areas of this institution, families, teachers and classroom mates. While it is true that in a child with a disability, progress is not seen in heaps and giant steps, for them, each small step towards improvement is a victory. For example, Christofer managed to stay in the classroom longer and establish a slightly closer bond with some girls, Abihail managed to read single words and small sentences, which he previously could not do, Yesmi managed to cut almost without leaving the lines, Camila speaks more words and sings songs, Marlon manages to concentrate for a little more than half an hour without being distracted, Ayze does her schoolwork in the best way and has already left behind pulling out her hair when she feels anxious, Milet can function properly even before going to preschool, she follows directions and cooperates, she no longer sees that egocentric girl who easily attacked others, Iker has achieved the ability to analyze texts in depth, Yonatan Angelito now knows numbers and vowels without getting confused and her language is increasingly clearer and understandable. They are some of our children with small great achievements, who should be valued.

Parents qualified on the rights of their children and the regulations and laws that protect them promote security in them to ensure their adequate educational inclusionFurthermore, respectful dialogue that leaves room for joint work and without prejudice between teachers and psychologists is also a victory, which, although it was not replicated in each of the schools where our children go, in which it was achieved, it represents a positiveprecedent, like a seed that can grow and help more children. Each parent who is sensitized and takes responsibility for their child's future through positive parenting is also a victory, because it provides the necessary self-sufficiency and self-confidence to their child so that in other environments, such as school, they can function better and feel comfortable.

Everything mentioned is finally a short summary of the thousand things that were done in the year, because if we talked about each part of each child's process or the materials adapted for each one according to their needs, it would take us many more paragraphs, all that remains is to say that achieving improvement in their education and quality of life is always the best victory.
