After a wonderful vacation in the mountains, where we organized a camp for the children, we returned to our daily activities with renewed enthusiasm. The camp was a fantastic experience for both the children and our team, offering them the chance to enjoy fresh air, nature, and a variety of recreational and educational activities. Upon returning to our center, we were pleasantly surprised by the generosity of a local donor, which allowed us to provide all the children with backpacks fully equipped with school supplies—crucial support to help them start the new school year on the right foot. The children’s joy upon receiving this aid was indescribable, and we, as a team, felt deeply grateful for the solidarity shown by our local community.
Unfortunately, shortly after this promising return, our area was hit by devastating floods that severely affected both our center and the homes of four of the children living there. The floods caused significant damage, presenting us with unexpected challenges. Despite these difficulties, we did not lose hope. We were overwhelmed by the quick response and solidarity from local volunteers, who mobilized to help us restore the center as quickly as possible. Thanks to their tireless efforts, the rehabilitation work is progressing rapidly, and we are optimistic that we will soon be able to resume our activities, once again providing the children with a safe and welcoming space.
In parallel with the restoration of the center, our team, along with the foundation's staff, has been actively involved in helping the local community affected by the floods. We have distributed material aid to families hit by the disaster, addressing their immediate needs—food, clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials. Additionally, we have taken on a deeper commitment: alongside other volunteers, we will be directly involved in the reconstruction of the home of one of the children from the center, whose house was completely destroyed by the floods.
We are doing everything in our power to turn this crisis into an opportunity for solidarity and renewal. Our children deserve not only a place where they can learn and grow but also a deep sense of safety and belonging, and we are dedicated to providing them with these, no matter the obstacles we encounter along the way.
Since the center's furniture, school supplies, toys, and all other items were destroyed by the floodwaters, your support can help restore this educational space for the children of this village sooner.
