Floods Aftermath Relief
Our hearts were deeply moved when, at the end of 2024, the villages in our county were hit by devastating floods. The destruction left families stranded, homeless, and struggling to survive. But even in the face of despair, we did not turn away. We immediately rallied together, continuing our mission to help those in need, especially the children. Since the beginning of 2025, our team has worked tirelessly to offer aid. We have renovated several homes that were damaged by the floods in Cuza-Voda and Slobozia-Conachi. Many of these houses were left damp, with their walls crumbling, but we have managed to restore them, providing families with shelter and warmth.
Alongside this, we have collected and distributed second-hand furniture to families in need, but we didn’t stop there. We also delivered new tables, chairs, and essential items to improve their quality of life. Our organization went beyond just housing and furniture – we distributed food packages, hygiene kits, blankets, duvets, mattresses, towels, and other vital products that were essential for survival.
The children, as always, were the primary beneficiaries of our efforts, but we have also made sure to support the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and individuals with disabilities who were struggling the most. These communities are facing an uphill battle to rebuild their lives, but with your help, we have managed to provide them with some relief, hope, and a sense of normalcy. Together, we can make the impossible possible.
Day Center Pechea: A Lifeline for Disadvantaged Children
In Pechea, we continued our Day Center, which has become a lifeline for the disadvantaged children in the village. Every day, this center opens its doors to offer these children more than just a safe place to stay – it provides them with a chance to learn, grow, and escape the struggles they face at home. At the center, the children receive assistance with their homework, participate in educational activities, and engage in social activities that help them build important life skills.
More importantly, we provide them with one hot meal each day, ensuring they are nourished and cared for. Every month, we serve 26 children, and watching them grow, make progress, and develop into confident young individuals has been incredibly rewarding. The Day Center offers them a moment of peace and joy, a stark contrast to the challenges their families face at home. For many of these children, it is the only place where they can experience a sense of stability and hope. It is a safe haven where their dreams can begin to take root.
Scholarships for Children from Rural Areas: Empowering Dreams
One of our most impactful programs has been providing scholarships to children from rural areas who dream of continuing their studies but face overwhelming obstacles. Right now, we are supporting nearly 100 children from villages, ensuring that they have the financial means to continue their education. Many of these children come from backgrounds where education is not a given, and their families do not have the resources to support them in their academic journey.
But thanks to the generosity of people like you, we have been able to offer them the chance to pursue their dreams. Thirty of these children also receive tutoring in key subjects, career counseling, and school supplies to help them succeed in school. We are incredibly proud to see how far they have come. Some of these children have been with us for years, and now they are in high school or even university, continuing to thrive with the support they need.
We are constantly inspired by the letters we receive from our scholarship recipients. One of the most heartfelt letters came from Diana Barau, a young woman whose life was transformed by the “One Village, One Child” scholarship program. Diana shared how she went from a little girl with a dream of becoming a lawyer to now being a law student – a dream she never thought would come true. Her story is just one of many.
A Letter of Gratitude from Diana Barau
"Dear kind-hearted people,
Imagine a small village in Romania, with humble houses and dusty streets.
There lived a little girl with the dream of becoming a lawyer. Every day, she walked to school with a heart full of courage, even though each step was a long and difficult journey on a path of scarcity. That little girl was me, Diana.
Everything changed in 2018. The “One Village, One Child” scholarship program of the Inima de Copil Foundation entered my life, and, along with people like you, it turned the impossible into possible. Since the eighth grade, the Foundation has not only provided financial support but also a family that believes in me.
Now I am a law student, a dream I never thought would come true. Every new and exciting course, every book I read, and every smile of mine are thanks to people like you. You, the kind-hearted people, have transformed my education from an unattainable dream into a beautiful reality. You bring light into my life and give me the strength to keep fighting.
Every achievement of mine, every step forward, is also thanks to your generosity.
I thank you from the bottom of my child’s heart for everything you do!
Diana Barau"
Diana’s journey is a testament to the power of hope, support, and generosity. It is the stories like hers that remind us of the impact we can make together. Your kindness and contributions have made a real difference in the lives of so many children, giving them a brighter future.
We are grateful for each and every one of you who has helped us along the way, and we will continue to strive to offer education, support, and relief to those who need it most. Together, we are changing lives. Together, we are making dreams come true.
