Activity Report – Day Center in Pechea village
During the summer period, our Day Center in Pechea continued to operate, even throughout the school vacation. Children participated in a variety of activities, both recreational and educational, with a special focus on academic support for those facing learning difficulties.
We were privileged to welcome international volunteers from France and the United States, who spent time with the children and organized engaging and creative activities. Their presence brought cultural diversity and new learning experiences that greatly enriched the children’s summer.
Summer Camp in Vrancea County
The highlight of the vacation period was the summer camp organized in Vrancea County, in the mountains. Children from our projects were given the opportunity to participate in this camp, which for many of them was the very first time they had ever left their village or experienced a holiday away from home.
One of the camps was specially designed for the children from our Day Center in Pechea, as well as for other children from villages that had been affected by floods. The program included games, competitions, leisure activities, hiking, and many other enjoyable moments. The children expressed great joy and excitement, making this an unforgettable experience.
School Preparation
In August, we focused on preparing for the new school year. Thanks to generous donations, we were able to collect school supplies and backpacks to support children in attending school. So far, we have distributed over 150 fully equipped backpacks. This effort ensured that the children started school, which began on September 8th, with the necessary materials and encouragement.
Support for Flood-Affected Families
Another important activity carried out during this period was continuing support for families affected by the floods. We provided food packages, construction materials, and other forms of assistance, made possible through donations from various supporters.
At the end of August, together with volunteers and a partner organization, we organized a large-scale initiative to build three houses for three families whose homes had been severely damaged by the floods. This project represented a significant step toward restoring stability and offering hope to the affected families.
