I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. Due to covid 19 situations, the mode of education has been changed. The physical classrooms turned into virtual classrooms. This transition is very exciting, gives new learnings and challenges. The major challenge is to provide virtual education to blind students is very challenging. The poor students do not have mobile phones, and internet. The project has provided mobile phones, and cost of internet services. There are 179 students who requires support for mobile phones, and internet services. The organization has started requesting donors to support for cause. This mobile phones are the only medium to connect the students with visual impairment and other disabilities. They have equal right to access the education. Blind People's Association ensures that the rights of children with disabilities are protected and promoted. The gift of mobile phone to students with visual impairment is not gift, it is new hope are given to them.
Raj a student of class 12th lives in Kacchh, Gujarat. Raj is having a visual impairment. Due to Covid 19, his school is closed, and he was worried about his education. His school teachers contacted him couple of times, and said if you have smart phones they can send audio books, and lessons to him. This would help him to prepare for class 12th examination. His father has mobile phone, but he has to carry when he goes for a job. He comes at late night. He shared his worried with the school teacher. School teacher shared his concerned with the project team, and idea of providing mobile phones to blind students. He was given a mobile phone and internet services. He was so happy to have mobiles, and all lessons in audio format, and audio books. He said, this has given me confidence, hope that I will clear 12th Board Exam with good marks.
The project team has already distributed 20 mobiles, and looking for support for more 159 mobile phones. We request you to share this request on your social media platforms, with friends, and family members. Your support enable us to reach out more students with visual impairment and disabilities, and their education will be continued.
