Kitengela Academy attracts 25 new students

By Alex Shaw | Project Leader

Since we last provided an update, Pamela and the team have worked tirelessly to support the school, pupils and teachers through challenging times.

Through your help and donations, she has been able to make some modest but vitally important investments in the school, to secure its sustainability and longer term viability.

It is paying off!!

Kitengela Academy has succeeded in attracting 25 new fee paying students, at a time of economic difficulty, which is a testament to the quality of education they provide and the good reputation they have established.

The school and orphanage is not quite yet in a position of self-sufficiency and all donations to support them through this time are massively appreciated.  The teachers have shown immense loyalty and courage in working with Pamela through this period and making sacrifices of their own to ensure the school prospers and its pupils and dependents are cared for.

Additional educational and logistical resources (such as computer, printer, photocopier, which are an external cost) are a priority to maintain pupil levels and enable the school to reach self-sufficiency in the coming months.

Furnishing two classrooms has been made possible by the kind support of an Australian supporter in Kenya, but further investment in facilities and being able to provide a mini-bus would secure the school's position and allow them to better serve the community. Pamela has been expanding the curriculum and has recently introduced drama, dance, music and taekwondo.

With sincere thanks,

Alex and Pamela
