At 18 years old, Carolina stood at a crossroads. Having grown up in a shelter, she had always feared what would happen once she left. Where would she go? How would she support herself? Would she ever have the chance to build a future of her own?
For 34 young people like Carolina, the Autonomous Life Program became the bridge between uncertainty and independence. In 2024, we continued to support, guide, and empower these vulnerable youth, ensuring they didn’t have to face the world alone.
Through this program, they gained access to:
Higher education opportunities
Job training and employment connections
Vocational guidance and mentoring
Lifelong support networks
Education opens doors, and we made sure those doors stayed open. 12 young people are now studying at top universities in Medellín, thanks to scholarships and sponsorships. Some receive full tuition support through Ceipa, others are funded by Fraternidad Medellín, and four students have their tuition fully covered by sponsors.
Every year, the number of graduates in technical, technological, and professional careers grows—proving that education leads to employment and stability. In 2024 alone, three more young graduates secured jobs, including a young mother from our Day Program.
But our commitment doesn’t end when they leave our care. In 2024, our program leader personally accompanied over 62 young people during their transition out of our shelters, ensuring they stayed connected to the program’s benefits and resources.
Because independence isn’t just about leaving—it's about thriving.
Thanks to our partners, sponsors, and supporters, these young people aren’t just surviving; they are building their own futures, breaking cycles of poverty, and stepping into the world with confidence.
Together, we are turning dreams into realities. Will you join us in changing more lives?
