Project Report | May 1, 2018
Bricks, Cement and Veggies!

By Faith Shivamba | Community Officer

Dear Supporters,

Exciting progress at Mamoorare

Thank you so much for your continuous support and generous donations. I am glad to announce that the other two classrooms at Mammorare crèche are almost done. Our volunteers have enjoyed painting the other complete classroom and it is looking great. Our goal is to complete this crèche by the end of June 2018 and we are hoping to start with a new one in July.

Creating a veggie patch

As part of GVIs community upliftment programmes we conduct environmental education at Diphuti Primary School in the Oaks. We are teaching the kids about the environment and all the issues we face, we are one step closer to creating Eco warriors who will protect South Africa’s precious flora and fauna. As part of our classes we taught the children about the environment, mammals and the importance of plants. Our lectures were then followed by a practical activity of making their own plant nursery and vegetable garden. The children were so excited and they were happy to put into practice what they had learned.

After every quarter we reward the learners by bringing them out to the reserve for a game drive. We are bringing the second group of kids out for a game drive in a couple of days, and the kids love it out here. They enjoy seeing the animals and practicing their practical skills from the classroom. We create some fun games to play when they return from drive including a volleyball competition and treasure hunt.

It is so rewarding to be a part of the development of these young minds.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in our surrounding communities through your continuous support and generous donations.

Much love,

The Karongwe Eco Warriors
