Dear Supporters,
The installation of our new, Phase 3, 6KW solar array at Holy Cross Anglican School will commence next week with the shipping of the palletized equipment from Belize City to San Pedro, and then trucking on to the school property.
The following week -- April 2 -- I will be on-site as well as two technicians from Baker Renewable Energy and the lead technical expert from Solar Energy Solutions Belize (SESB). I will also have a work team with me.
Together, we will do a final inventory of the shipped system to ensure that nothing was lost, stolen, or damaged in transit. The BRE folks will remove the Phase 1 array from office-complex roof and inspect each of these original panels for defects or damage incurred over the last five years. We expect that only a few will not be re-usable. The BRE technicians will then re-locate (most of) the Phase 1 array by adding on to the two strings of panels that were installed in Phase 2, providing us with more capacity on the Phase 2 side of the school.
In parallel, my work team will remove and replace the office complex roof, and then apply white, reflective coat paint, leaving a pristine surface onto which the new Phase 3 array will be installed. We anticipate the roof replacement and preparation work will last all week. This will leave only the actual Phase 3 array installation to be completed once my work team and the BRE guys depart.
Within a couple of weeks thereafter, SESB is scheduled to bring its technical installer team on-site. We believe that all of the work and commissioning of the new Phase 3 array will be complete by April 30th.
We are thrilled to be at this point, and look forward to realizing the cost savings at the school where so many underpriviled children are served. We couldn't have gotten to this point without you, our supporters, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
John
