Dear Supporters,
In January this year I headed over to our project in Sri Lanka to meet the team and sit down and discuss our long term sustainability strategy for our amazing elephant project in Sri Lanka.
It is amazing to hear how much the team has been working with project orange, it is a national project but our team have been spearheading the project which is making an amazing movement to tackle human-elephant conflict. Hopefully you are aware that this is our biggest battle as humans take over land and push elephants away, the elephant doesn't leave easily and humans find them a pest and this conflict is causing harm to the animals and the numbers left in the wild.
Project Orange is simply working with farmers to plant orange trees as Elephant's don't like the citrus and will stay away, with your donations we have been funding orange trees and putting up fences to protect the elephants as well as the communities. The team ensures the elephants have plenty of space to live but also by managing the locations we can ensure minimal conflict with farmers so we can protect everyone invovled.
There is lots more fencing and trees needed to fully protect these animals but the team have made an incredible start with your donations so thank you for your support!
Thanks,
Tyrone
