Dear Friends of EfA,
We are excited to share the success of a recent initiative that your generous contributions have made possible. In August, Elephants for Africa (EfA) collaborated with the Moreomaoto Public Library and the Construction Industry Trust Fund Moreomaoto Training School to conduct a Jobs Readiness Workshop. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to support the communities around Moreomaoto, Botswana, and address the challenges posed by high unemployment rates, particularly in rural villages.
Led by our dedicated staff members, Walona Sehularo (Community Outreach and Education Coordinator) and Miss Kemoneetswe Mphanyane (Education Officer), the workshop provided essential training for 30 young adults. While the Moreomaoto Training School focuses on equipping students with technical skills such as building and thatching, the EfA team recognized the need to complement this education with soft skills that are often overlooked in traditional training programs.
During the workshop, students learned how to write compelling cover letters and CVs, and how to effectively prepare for job interviews. These skills are crucial for securing employment in today's competitive job market in towns and cities, and the workshop was designed to bridge the gap between technical proficiency and job readiness.
The feedback from both the students and the school was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the practical and valuable skills they gained. As a result, we are excited to announce that this workshop will now be held quarterly to benefit new students enrolling every three months.
Your support has enabled us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young adults, giving them the tools they need to pursue meaningful employment. We look forward to continuing this important work, and we are deeply grateful for your continued partnership in empowering the next generation.
Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us create lasting change in rural Botswana.
With great appreciation,
Steph and the Elephants for Africa Team
