Dear friends,
Thanks to your generous support, our farmers from the Makhi Cluster are celebrating one of their most rewarding harvests yet. This year brought the blessing of good rains, and with their fields protected by the solar-powered electric fence you helped make possible, farmers were able to sow and reap with confidence.
At a joyful gathering in the kgotla (village meeting place), the community proudly displayed the (literal) fruits of their hard work: watermelons, sweet reed, maize, melons, and more. The air was filled with laughter, pride, and relief. These harvest celebrations are about much more than food; they represent dignity, resilience, and the promise of a brighter future.
Your support has done more than keep elephants out of the fields. It has put nourishing food on family tables, strengthened local livelihoods, and shown what human-elephant coexistence looks like. We hope in time that perception will shift and elephants are viewed as neighbors, rather than pests.
From all of us at Elephants for Africa, and from the farmers themselves, thank you for walking this journey alongside us. Together, we are proving that people and wildlife can thrive side by side. With your continued support, we look forward to building on this success so that each season brings more abundance, resilience, and peace between people and elephants in the Boteti region.
With gratitude,
The Elephants for Africa Team
