El Savlador 2016 Pre-Departure Update

Hola FTPF Amigos!

One week from today FTPF staff and volunteers will be departing for El Salvador, marking our fourth consecutive year working as part of a larger plan to propagate the country with 100,000 fruit trees.

It is no secret that El Salvador is a country in turmoil: gang violence has resulted in the highest murder rate in a non war-torn country in the world, drought and rising temperatures are devastating agriculture and causing a food and water crisis, deforestation is accelerating erosion and water contamination, and the abundance of cheap and processed foods is dominating traditional diets and causing record numbers of nutrition-related illness. For these and many other reasons, we are extremely motived to get back on the ground in order to bring the life-giving benefits of fruit trees and horticultural expertise to the people of El Salvador.

FTPF has cultivated and maintained a strong relationship with our two local partners on this project, SHARE El Salvador and CONFRAS. Additionally, we are extra excited this year to be bringing along an added number of volunteers from across the country, all of whom have decided to donate their time and support to help us achieve our shared mission: ecological, nutritional, and economic freedom for Salvadorans.
