For three quarters of a century, we’ve been standing by vulnerable children in over 130 countries and territories—children who, at some point in their lives, have needed the warmth of a home, the support of a family, and the certainty that they are not alone.
Looking back fills us with pride and emotion for all that we’ve achieved. But this anniversary is not a destination—it’s a renewed call to face the future with greater commitment than ever.
Recent months have brought deep instability: the war in Ukraine, the conflict in Gaza, and climate emergencies like the flooding in Valencia have shaken us physically and emotionally, reminding us of our shared fragility. Rising living costs are pushing many families to the brink, while growing social and political uncertainty demands we redouble our efforts to put children at the heart of everything we do.
Even technological progress, with all its benefits, brings new challenges: children and teenagers now face invisible risks such as overexposure, cyberbullying, and increasingly fragile mental health.
In the face of all this, at SOS Children’s Villages we continue to do what we do best: care, protect, and accompany.
We’ve strengthened our Prevention Programs, supporting at-risk families to improve their living conditions and prevent the separation of children from their parents. Through our Children’s Villages and Family-Based Care Programs, we provide safe and nurturing environments for those who have lost parental care. And we continue to support young people transitioning into independent life, especially those coming from the child protection system or facing vulnerability.
Our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remains strong. As a member of the Spanish Network of the UN Global Compact, we continue promoting these goals through a variety of initiatives.
