On 6 February 2023, A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the city of Kahramanmaras, Turkey. The same day, a second 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the same region. The earthquakes were the two most powerful to strike the region since 1939. Besides, the impact zone stretched over 600 kilometers and hit the northwest of Syria. More than 45,000 people have been killed and 98,000 people injured (as of the middle of February 2023).
The Mustard Seed Mission delivered supplies to Turkey on the morning of February 13. We are deeply grateful for your support and help. However, under the complex and turbulent political situation in Syria, many areas have been affected by violence, which has caused difficulties in the delivery of aid materials. So, we continue to actively contact the local partner to understand their needs and give support to them.
