At Whisper’s Children’s Hospital, every life matters — and thanks to your generous support, our emergency ambulance has been of a great help to many families in need. This ambulance has not only made it possible to respond swiftly to medical emergencies, but it has also directly contributed to a significant reduction in mortality rates among children and mothers in our care.
Since its introduction, the ambulance has allowed us to reach critically ill patients who would have otherwise faced delays or even loss of life due to the lack of reliable transportation. We have been able to pick up children suffering from severe conditions like malaria, pneumonia, or respiratory distress and bring them to the hospital in time for life-saving treatment. Mothers in labor, especially those from remote areas, have greatly benefited as well — arriving safely and receiving the urgent obstetric care needed to prevent complications. In fact, many birth-related emergencies have been managed successfully thanks to timely ambulance support.
We are proud to share that we now have full-time medical staff assigned to the ambulance. These professionals ensure that care begins even before the patient reaches the hospital — offering oxygen, stabilization, and monitoring during transit. This critical enhancement has been made possible because of your donations, and we cannot thank you enough. Your support ensures that the ambulance is always fueled, well-maintained, and fully equipped to respond at a moment’s notice.
In just the past six months, over 120 emergency transfers have been carried out. Among these, 60 critically ill children were rushed to Whisper’s for immediate intervention, 32 mothers in labor were safely transported to avoid birth complications, and 15 newborns were transferred to our neonatal intensive care unit for urgent care. These numbers reflect lives touched and lives saved — and every one of them was made possible because of you.
We remain committed to ensuring that the ambulance continues to serve as a dependable, lifesaving resource for the most vulnerable in our community. To do this, we still need support for fuel, servicing, medical supplies, and staff salaries.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your generosity is helping us respond to emergencies swiftly thus helping us save lives of children and mothers
