Thanks to our donors and supportrs, during the past winter (between November and December 2025) Action for Development was able to support over 280 families with the essential food packages and coal bags to survive throght harsh winter conditions. As an additional funding was made available to the organisation, a further 485 additional families (over 4300 individulals) recieved food packages including 20kg  rice and 5 kg oil between Jan - Feb 2026.

Our focus remains on very vulnerable families who need support through difficult times of hunger and cold. A mother who received the support mentioned the following:

“My name is Lailoma* and I am a widowed mother of four children. My eldest son, Omar*, who is pictured here, is 13 years old, while my other children are 10, 8, and 6 years old. We live in a small rented house without access to electricity or running water. Every day, we collect water from a mosque located about 10–12 minutes away from our home.

To support my family, I work washing clothes in other people’s homes. My eldest son also tries to help by washing cars on the streets so that we can buy food and cover our rent. Recently, he was detained by the Taliban because children are not allowed to work on the streets. For one week, we searched for him before finally finding him again. During that time, I was unable to work properly and our family suffered greatly. If my son cannot work and I cannot work enough, we do not know how we will survive or provide food for the children.

We are deeply grateful to Action for Development for supporting us during the winter. The coal and food assistance helped us through very difficult days. Thanks to this support, I could ensure that my children did not go to bed hungry, and we were able to keep our small sandali warm during the cold winter nights.”

As the reportedly cases of food insecurity rises in Afghanistan, organisations such as Action for Development, are there to reach to the grassroots and ensure the support you provided reaches those who really need it.

Please extend your support with us, so that we could extend it further...
