“Before this program, we only heard about COVID-19 but didn’t really understand what it meant. Now I can explain the symptoms and how to protect myself and my family. I feel proud to share this knowledge with others in my village.”
While the initial crisis stage of the COVID-19 pandemic has passed, the social impact continues to affect many communities across Liberia, especially in remote areas. Through this project, Camp for Peace Liberia has remained committed to awareness-raising efforts to ensure communities stay informed, safe, and prepared for any epidemic.
Over the last few months, our team has conducted community outreach sessions in villages and schools across the Salayea and Zorzor districts. These sessions focused on educating youth, parents, and community leaders about the continued importance of hygiene, vaccination awareness, and disease prevention practices.
One youth participant shared:
“Before this program, we only heard about COVID-19 but didn’t understand what it meant. Now, I can explain the symptoms and how to protect myself and my family. I feel proud to share this knowledge with others in my village.”
These efforts have empowered hundreds of community members with accurate information, helping to reduce fear, promote health, and build resilience. We are deeply grateful to all donors who supported this emergency appeal and continue to believe in the power of grassroots awareness and education.
