Although the devastating earthquake seems like a distant memory, the plight of millions of impoverished Chileans is as bleak as the day the earthquake struck. In spite of the tremendous economic strides Chile has experienced over the past decades, one of the sad realities is that Chile has one of the highest income disparities in the world. Millions continue to live in extreme poverty. Unfortunately, VIDA's decades of medical aid to Chile is drawing to a close as funds to pay for shipments have dried up and the cost to clear containers in Chile is going up. This double hit is making shipments nearly impossible. The VIDA team is working hard to raise funds to continue with this project and we hope that we can count on the continued support of the GlobalGiving community.
