COMBATING MISINFORMATION THROUGH TRUSTED COMMUNITY

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Accurate information is one of the most powerful tools in preventing Ebola transmission. Thanks to your support, we have continued working with trusted community voices to counter misinformation and promote evidence-based health messages.

Religious leaders, village elders, teachers, and community health volunteers participated in targeted awareness campaigns throughout the reporting period. These respected individuals serve as trusted messengers who can effectively address concerns and clarify misconceptions.

Community discussions provided opportunities for residents to ask questions and receive reliable information regarding Ebola symptoms, transmission, and prevention measures. By encouraging open dialogue, we are helping reduce fear and build confidence in public health interventions.

The campaign has been particularly effective in addressing rumors that often discourage individuals from seeking medical care or cooperating with health authorities. Increased community understanding is contributing to stronger participation in prevention activities.

As communities become better informed, they are more likely to adopt protective behaviors and support outbreak response efforts. The positive impact of trusted local leadership continues to strengthen preparedness at the grassroots level.

Thank you for helping us ensure that communities receive accurate and timely health information. Your support is enabling trusted leaders to become champions of public health and helping Uganda remain vigilant in the fight against Ebola.
