Summary

On 24 September 2025, devastating floods swept through Ibaji communities in Kogi State, North Central Nigeria, destroying homes, farmlands, and crops. Thousands of families lost everything and now live in 42 temporary IDP camps. This project by Equitable Medicaid and Clinical Research will provide food, clean water, medical aid, and emergency shelter for displaced families, giving them a lifeline as they recover from the disaster.

Challenge

The flood disaster in Ibaji destroyed entire communities, washing away farmlands and homes. Thousands of residents, mostly farmers, now live in overcrowded IDP camps with little access to food, clean water, or medical care. Children are at risk of malnutrition and disease outbreaks. Many families have lost their livelihoods and depend entirely on emergency aid to survive the aftermath of the flooding.

Solution

This project will deliver food, water, hygiene materials, and medical supplies to flood survivors in Ibaji's 42 IDP camps. It will also help set up temporary shelters and provide mosquito nets to reduce disease. Volunteer health teams will conduct medical checkups and distribute basic drugs. The project will ensure that affected families receive immediate relief and safety support while they rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

Long-Term Impact

Providing emergency relief will help families survive this crisis and prevent further loss of life. Access to food, clean water, and healthcare will reduce illness and stabilize affected communities. Supporting displaced families will also speed up recovery and restore hope. The project will strengthen community resilience, improve disaster response capacity, and help Ibaji families rebuild safely after the flood disaster.
