24 killed as Nepal Faces another Deadly Landslide

By Adaego Imoh | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Today, September 28, 2026, Nepal is facing another deadly disaster after several days of heavy rainfall triggered floods, landslides and an avalanche across parts of the country.

At least 24 people have died and 14 others are missing, according to reports published today. The worst-affected areas include Manang, Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat and Palpa. Hundreds of families have been affected, while homes, roads, bridges and power infrastructure have been damaged.

One of the most frightening scenes was captured on video as a huge section of mountainside collapsed into the swollen Kali Gandaki River within seconds. In Baglung, landslides have also buried homes and killed at least 10 people, with rescue teams working to reach affected communities.

The disaster has also reached Nepal's high mountains. An avalanche struck the base camp of Himlung Himal, killing several people and leaving others missing as rescue teams continue their search under difficult weather conditions.

What this means for families

For families living in affected communities, a disaster like this can mean losing a home, food, household belongings and access to roads and health services in a matter of hours.

Our Nepal disaster response mission is intended to support people affected by floods and landslides with emergency relief, basic medical support, food and other urgent needs as resources become available.

We are watching the situation closely and will continue to share updates as reliable information becomes available. Your support can help us respond when communities are hit by disasters such as this.

Thank you for standing with families facing emergencies.

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this project with your friends, family and networks. A single share can help the appeal reach someone who is able to give.

Regards,
Adaego Imoh
