Sub: Project report Emergency Relief for Palestine
Based on search results, there is no public information indicating that associations in Gaza are specifically lacking money from Burundi as of today, October 29, 2025. However, the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza means that all aid organizations face significant funding shortages, regardless of the country of origin. Meanwhile, Burundi itself is the recipient of humanitarian aid and faces significant financial challenges.
Context for Burundi's limited involvement
Aid recipient: Burundi is a recipient of humanitarian aid, not a significant donor country. It relies on international aid to address issues such as food insecurity and refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This indicates the country's limited capacity to fund associations elsewhere.
Historical context: A 2018 United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner (OHCHR) press briefing mentioned both Gaza and Burundi, but addressed them as separate issues and did not connect them as a donor-recipient relationship. A 2009 UN Watch article mentioned UN experts on toxic waste and Burundi who "slammed Israel" regarding its actions in Gaza, but again, this did not involve financial aid from Burundi.
Context for Gaza's funding challenges
Widespread economic collapse: Gaza is experiencing a complete economic collapse with banks closed and no cash in circulation, making survival challenging for many.
Humanitarian aid blocked: Aid organizations in Gaza face critical shortages due to aid restrictions and blockages, which have severely cut off the supply of food, medicine, and fuel since at least March 2025.
Operational constraints: In addition to funding shortages, aid groups face complex challenges, including the restriction of equipment classified as "dual-use" (potentially for both civilian and military purposes) and high costs associated with transportation and logistics.
Political manipulation of aid: Some groups have attempted to exploit the distribution of aid and reconstruction money, which further complicates delivery efforts.
How to support relief efforts
Given the widespread needs in Gaza and Burundi's limited capacity to provide aid, concerned individuals can consider supporting large international aid organizations.
Support for Gaza: Organizations like the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) have extensive operations in Gaza and are in urgent need of funding.
Support for Burundi: Organizations such as the World Food Programme (WFP) are providing aid to Burundi and need continued support.
Various international and non-governmental organizations are providing emergency relief to Palestine, including in Gaza and the West Bank, where humanitarian conditions are catastrophic. Due to intensified conflict, many Palestinians are displaced, facing severe food shortages, a lack of clean water, and limited access to healthcare. Multiple organizations are leading these efforts.
Organizations providing aid
A primary provider of aid, UNRWA delivers food, healthcare, and education to Palestine refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, and other operational areas.
Donations support life-saving food and cash assistance, education, and healthcare.
United Nations World Food Programme
WFP issues regular reports on the emergency response in Palestine, detailing the distribution of food aid.
The Big Heart Foundation
This foundation runs an emergency relief sector focused on disaster situations, providing support for healthcare, food assistance, and protection of affected populations.
It specifically supports the Palestinian Children Fund.
Anera
Working with UN and NGO partners, Anera is opening aid corridors to deliver essential, life-saving supplies.
They focus on providing water, health, and other community-building programs.
MATW Project
MATW Project runs a Famine Appeal for Gaza, delivering hot meals, clean water, and infant formula.
The organization also provides emergency relief bundles with food, hygiene kits, and blankets to displaced families.
European Union (EU)
The EU provides emergency humanitarian aid and has organized humanitarian airbridge flights to deliver thousands of tonnes of relief supplies to partner organizations on the ground.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS)
Supported by partners like the Australian Red Cross, PRCS helps provide humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
How to help
Many aid organizations accept direct donations to support their relief efforts. A simple and effective way to help is to donate to one of the organizations listed above. These organizations provide assistance that includes:
Medical support: Increasing the capacity of hospitals, providing supplies, and offering psychosocial support for hospital staff.
Food and water: Distributing food packs, hot meals, and clean drinking water to combat widespread hunger and famine.
Shelter: Providing essential items like blankets for displaced families and working to build shelter for those who have lost their homes.
Support for mothers and children: Delivering maternity and newborn supplies and infant formula to vulnerable mothers and infants.
Cash assistance: Offering financial aid directly to families and sponsoring essential hospital staff.
