The Emergency Response in Cagayan (Closing Report)

By Joy Remigio | Project Lead

On February 21-22, 2024 the partnership project of Global Peace Foundation Philippines and GlobalGiving for the Emergency Response in Cagayan identified another community that was affected by typhoon calamity. They are Agta tribe in Cagayan at Purok 6, Barangay Joaquin Reyes formerly Barangay Dammang Norte.  In collaboration with the local government and Saint Paul University Philippines, social preparation was conducted successfully. The place doesn’t have electricity, no clean water, and lack of livelihood resources.

There was a values formation seminar and visioning workshop to prepare for their commitment and have ownership over this intervention for their daily living. They are all excited though it is their first time to experience a visioning workshop but they are all cooperative as they are groups to brainstorm and share their dreams towards realizing a better place to live in.

Each group presented their output, The Saint Paul University Community Development Director did the synthesis of their presentations and the Executive Secretary of the Municipal Mayor appreciated the output of their visioning workshop and commended Global Peace Foundation for the wonderful training provided to the tribe.  The tribe members are very happy for the opportunity. and the chieftain is very determined to keep the momentum of their unity and cooperation to succeed in their community.

On the second day, a ceremonial turnover of solar lamps to 120 families of the Agta tribe, took place. They are all happy and expressed their gratitude to GlobalGiving and Global Peace Foundation and its local partners.

The Global Peace Foundation Philippines thanked GlobalGiving for this partnership where we could respond, intervene, and support Cagayan families.
