Dear valued donors,
Greetings from Bonyan for Youth and Development. We are pleased to share with you the progress we've made over the last month in our project to provide emergency protection response to earthquake-affected communities in Northwest Syria.
Project Activities and Achievements:
- Psycho-social Support for Children and Families: Our Protection Officer has trained facilitators on psycho-social support (PSS), enabling us to conduct PSS sessions with groups of 15 children each. We successfully created eight cycles in 4 locations, covering safety, dealing with loss and fear, and understanding feelings.
- Awareness and Psycho-education Sessions: Our teams coordinated with local councils to provide awareness sessions on child protection issues and mental health support in camps, residential communities, and schools. The sessions have reached 108 men, 183 women, 69 boys, and 90 girls.
- Recreational Activities: We have conducted 51 recreational sessions for earthquake-affected children, helping them rebuild their daily routine and spreading positive energy among them. The activities have so far reached 255 boys and 247 girls.
- Case Management Services: In April, our Case Management (CM) team registered 56 new cases of children facing significant child protection issues. These cases were assessed, individual plans were developed for each case based on its needs, and the CM teams followed them up.
- Child Protection Support Services: 16 new children were referred to different child protection support services, such as health, basic needs, mental health, nutrition, and more.
- Mental Health Support: Our psychosocial support team has been actively assessing the psychological needs of parents and children, focusing on the effects of the earthquake and providing crucial support and counseling on how to deal with stress, loss, and other traumas.
We are highly grateful for your generous support that has enabled us to reach out to these affected communities. Our dedicated field team is working relentlessly to ensure the beneficiaries receive the help they need in these challenging times. Your contributions are making a significant difference in their lives.
As we continue our work, we look forward to your continued support. Please find some photos and videos of our activities here.
Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity.
