Record of helping to return to normal life

By Juhee Lee | Coordinator

  • An effort to get back to a normal way of life

Rain-soaked wounds do not heal easily. Victims lost their homes or were damaged enough to need to be rebuilt, and many of the memories they would collect were washed away. It is impossible to sleep at home because the walls that hold the water have become moldy. They cannot rest comfortably, even though it is their precious home. That is why we started to help them to get back to their daily life.

1) Dehumidifier, fan assistance
If you put wallpaper on a wall that is not completely dry, bugs will appear. Spending money on wallpapering only results in secondary damage caused by bugs. In order to understand the difficulties, we have been supporting dehumidifiers and fans that can dry the walls. Considering the rental period, the Beautiful Foundation gave a positive opinion on the direction of buying all.  As a result, we were able to purchase 29 dehumidifiers and 20 fans for rent. Those affected were able to use the dehumidifiers and fans until their homes were completely dry, and they kept thanking us for doing so. Up until the collection process after distribution, we created a systematic step to prevent problems from occurring. Records were meticulously kept. Our staff stayed on-site to continue the management.

2) Freezer, refrigerator assistance
It was the middle of a hot summer when the flooding happened. In order to return home as soon as possible, the victims started cleaning the house in the morning. The temperature rose sharply in the afternoon. Those who worked without blocking the sunlight were forced to get tired. As a matter of fact, there are some people who fall down and get injured in the heat. We rented two refrigerators and six freezers in recognition of the seriousness of the heat wave. The rented refrigerators and freezers were placed in four locations in Goesan-gun. By replenishing humidity with cool drinks, not only the victims, but also volunteers, soldiers, and students of the police school who came to help with the recovery from the torrential rain, were able to prevent heat-related illnesses.

3) Package assistance
Upon the return of the victims to their homes, there was an inventory of the things they had lost. Since they could not recover the items that were already washed away, we planned a package consisting of only the basic items most needed to return to their daily life. The package includes items such as seaweed, salt, sugar, soy sauce, etc. These are all items that the victims said they needed, and we made the package with their opinions in mind. The package has comforted those who are tired with great gifts.

We will continue to make efforts to rebuild a peaceful daily life after the disaster, where no one will be left out. This is our belief. The changes we have made through this project have been made through the victims. For a future where everyone can smile with small changes, we will not stop.

Thank you very much for your warm heart for the victims.
