A small update from Karama's Emergency Support project! It has been a busy couple of weeks. In the beginning of January Karama launched its emergency services to help households in the West Bank, where the condition deteriorates in relation to the war on Gaza.
Our goal is to support refugees meet basic needs, especially food and medical. With your support and donations so far, Karama has distributed over 60 food parcels and more parcels are waiting to be distributed this week. Our team is working hard to prepare each parcel carefully. Each parcel contains: rice, oil, lentils, crushed lentils, freekeh, white beans, sugar, salt, flour, tomato paste, spaghetti, tahini, tuna, fava beans, chickpeas, peas, vermicelli, ghee, halvah, mortadella, pasta. Items are all double checked to have valid and long expatriation dates to make sure families can benefit from them whenever they need to.
On another note, Karama has started the Cash-for work program which creates work opportunities for unemployed men and women from Deheishe Camp. This project is building on successful work from 2020/2021, when Karama had started this
initiative particularly around COVID19 where complications intensified in the West Bank. Together with local organizations, small projects have been identified where workers can contribute for several days to improve the local infrastructure, or address a gap in existing projects. Some simple equipment is hired or purchased and in the past weeks over 20 workers have been able to complete their activities. This allowed them to start Ramadan with an income for the first time since months.
We wish to continue providing whatever we can to the disadvantaged and harmed refugee families in the area.
Hopefully, soon we will have some more positive updates thanks for your support!
