Emergency Veterinary Care for Pets of the Homeless

This week, we have 72 pending cases, this one was from last month.

Mr. Brown is currently residing in a homeless shelter in Denver, Colorado. He has been homeless for the last four months. Mr. Brown is a disabled Veteran that receives SSI and food stamps. He has no transportation.

On 5/7/21 Mr. Brown reached out to Feeding Pets of the Homeless for his 2-year-old Male pit-bull Kechi.

The dog had been seen at an emergency veteinary hospital the day before and was diagnosed with an intestinal blockage.

An intake was completed and homeless verification was provided by a shelter manager.

Kechi needed to be moved from the ER hospital to another hospital that could complete the surgery for a more reasonable cost.  (We get the best care for our clients and the best price possible.)

Kechi was moved to another local hospital and surgery was completed. Kechi was very ill and the vet had thought that they may need to euthanize him while on the operating table, but he was a fighter and did great!

Kechi recovered overnight in the hospital and was returned back to a happy owner the next day.

Feeding pets of the Homeless contributed $600 towards Kechi's surgery.
