#GivingTuesday is Nov. 28! We want to share with you the story of Koda and her owner. They were in need of support to be able to move from living on the streets to housing together but there were a few roadblocks along the way. With the help of our supporters and a caring friend, they were able to get into housing. I will let Koda tell their story:
My name is Koda. I am a 3-year-old female Terrier mix and I live with my human who is a veteran and enrolled in the HUD-VASH program. We recently moved into shelter housing which is covered through the HUDVASH program in Stockton, CA.
For me to stay with my owner some restrictions were holding me back. I needed to be vaccinated and spayed before we could be allowed in the shelter together. So, my owner reached out to the organization, Feeding Pets of The Homeless, which he heard of through his best friend.
Once an intake was completed, an exam was approved. In the middle of this time, my owner got ill, had to be hospitalized and couldn’t take me to the vet. He was feeling depressed because he couldn’t do anything for me. Fortunately, his best friend, whom I love so dearly, heard the news of him being hospitalized and came to our rescue. She told my owner not to worry about anything, to take care of himself and stay strong. She made sure to take me to the vet and have this procedure done so that when my owner got back home, we could stay together forever.
So, off we went the next day to our appointment which was amazing because everything was done the same day. I finally saw my human and celebrated his birthday with him. We had lots of cupcakes and it was the best birthday ever!
Feeding Pets of The Homeless contributed $1,514 towards my care.
A note from the owner's friend:
"Dear case manager and Feeding Pets of the Homeless, thank you so much for your help in treating Koda. You are so much appreciated. Thank you Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
Feeding Pets of the Homeless keeps people and pets together! Your donations make this possible.
On November 28, from 00:00:00 ET to 23:59:59 ET, GlobalGiving is giving away $1.2 million to nonprofits around the world as part of their #MoveAMillion campaign for GivingTuesday. And the more you give, the more we get.
